The area’s basin has its highest springs in the Mantiqueira Mountain ridge, forms a corridor with the Paraiba do Sul River, contributing to the water supply to up to 15 million people. This recovery project had planted 16,670 native trees in degraded riparian areas of the Ribeirão dos Macacos River, promoting among other global and local benefits, the connection between the last two remaining native fragments of the basin.

The project contributes with the implementation of the sustainable usage models of the region’s natural resources, with the support of the local Rural Producers Association’s support.
